Baseball Recap: Sonoma Valley Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Sonoma Valley was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Vintage Crushers. This was a revenge game for the Dragons: when they faced off against the Crushers last Tuesday, they had to take a 11-2 loss.

Luciano Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits.

On the hitting side, Colin Buckley was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Sonoma Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-12 when he doesn't). Cayden Waldrop was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Sonoma Valley's record now sits at 4-12. As for Vintage, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sonoma Valley will challenge San Rafael at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Vintage, they will welcome Justin-Siena at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
