Recap: New Canaan Rams vs. Darien Blue Wave
The New Canaan Rams waltzed into Thursday's contest with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They took down Darien 31-17. New Canaan's win was all the more impressive since Darien was averaging only 14.1 points allowed on the season.
Alex Russey looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 111 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. Russey really tore up the turf during one magnificent 81-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Benevento, who rushed for 25 yards and two touchdowns.
New Canaan has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record. As for Darien, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
New Canaan's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Killingly at 6:00 p.m. on November 28th. Killingly will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while New Canaan is ranked third). As for Darien, they will head out on the road to face off against Naugatuck at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Naugatuck has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 426 points over their last ten contests.
