Baseball Recap: St. Catherine's Comes Up Short

St. Catherine extended their losing streak to eight on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-11. They lost 18-0 to the Dominican Knights. The Angels were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 7-5.

St. Catherine's saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nyzavion Zaehler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Dominican, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 9-11. That 18-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Dominican's side, Michael Griesel made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Griesel has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Xavier Parlier and Levi Kolb did most of the damage at the plate: Parlier got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Kolb got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one double. Those four runs gave Parlier a new career-high. Gabe Chacon was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
