Lamar Christian came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against Purvis, but Beni Raanes wouldn't allow it. The Purvis Tornadoes breezed by the Lamar Christian Lions to the tune of 70-42 on Friday thanks in part to Raanes, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 22 points. Those 22 points gave him a new career-high.
Jace Gipson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
With the win, Purvis broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-10. As for Lamar Christian, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-5.
Purvis will host Lawrence County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Purvis is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season. Lamar Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
