Basketball Recap: Pompano Beach Comes Up Short

Pompano Beach was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 55-6 defeat at the hands of the Piper Bengals. The game marked the Golden Tornadoes' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Piper was led to victory by Janiya Joassin and Aliyah Oldfield. Joassin posted 28 points and seven rebounds, while Oldfield had 21 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Joassin is now averaging an impressive 16.7 points per game. Jayla Ellison was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Pompano Beach's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Piper, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pompano Beach will welcome Everglades at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pompano Beach is facing Everglades at the right time seeing as Everglades is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Piper, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Coral Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
