Football Recap: The First Academy Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

The First Academy's game on Friday was all tied up 6-6 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They secured a 12-8 W over the Eau Gallie Commodores. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Royals' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Commodores are ranked 44th).

Brian Dillard threw for 133 yards while completing 72.7% of his passes. MANNIE MCKINNEY was his top target, picking up 69 receiving yards.

The victory got The First Academy back to even at 2-2. As for Eau Gallie, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The First Academy will venture away from home to take on Venice at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Eau Gallie, they will head out to challenge Cocoa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
