Industrial suffers ninth straight loss on the road

If the Industrial Cobras were riding high off their 50-28 takedown of the Rice Consolidated Raiders last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Industrial fell just short of Yoakum by a score of 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Industrial has suffered yet this season.

Yoakum was led to victory by Destiny Rios and Jayana Phillips. Rios scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Phillips scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Phillips has scored all season.

Industrial's defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-15. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Yoakum, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Industrial will head out on the road to face off against Palacios at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palacios is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Yoakum, they will be playing at home against Columbus at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Karlee Mathis and Phillips.
