Basketball Recap: Cedar Reds vs. Payson Lions
Cedar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Payson Lions 72-45. The Reds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2020.
Loss or not, Cedar got some senior leadership from Hayden O Kee and Jackson Greene. O Kee went 7 for 13 en route to 20 points plus five rebounds, while Greene posted 14 points along with two steals. The match was O Kee's third in a row with at least ten points.
Leading Payson to victory were Legend Reynoso and Joesph Wolfe. Reynoso dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while Wolfe went 6 for 10 en route to 15 points plus three steals. What's more, Wolfe also racked up three offensive rebounds, the most he's had since back in November of 2023. Cedar's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Payson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Cedar wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-50 loss against Kanab on the 26th. Payson has also already played their next game, a 57-48 win against Hurricane on the 26th.
