Softball Game Preview: Genoa Area Comets vs. Bellevue Redmen

The Genoa Area Comets will be taking part in a tournament against the Bellevue Redmen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Genoa Area has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Genoa Area's offense. They lost 11-0 to Eastwood on Monday. The Comets just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Meanwhile, Bellevue beat Norwalk 14-11 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Redmen.

Mallory Hay was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Payton Hicks, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Easterwood, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Bellevue was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Bellevue's victory bumped their record up to 7-14. As for Genoa Area, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.
