Baseball Recap: Minisink Valley Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Minisink Valley nor Washingtonville made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Wizards. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Christopher McCauley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Minisink Valley's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Minisink Valley's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bobby Ayers, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave Ayers a new career-high.

Minisink Valley now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Washingtonville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

Minisink Valley has already played their next contest, a 9-2 loss against Valley Central on the 19th. As for Washingtonville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 20-0 victory against Monticello on the 20th.
