Softball Recap: South Gate Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

South Gate dropped their record down to 8-15 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 16-0 to the Legacy Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on Wednesday.

As for Legacy, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Legacy's part, Dail Dorado was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Dorado has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Priscilla Medina, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Katelen Pedroza was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Coming up, South Gate will be playing in front of their home fans against Marquez at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Gladiators will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. As for Legacy, they will welcome Schurr at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3, the Spartans 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
