Softball Recap: Medina Valley Panthers vs. Southwest Dragons
Medina Valley easily dispatched Del Rio last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Medina Valley fell just short of the Southwest Dragons by a score of 5-3 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered against the Dragons since March 8, 2021.
Medina Valley got a good showing from Kylah Martinez, who tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Martinez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Claire Boehme was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Avery Nash, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Even though they lost, Medina Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in February.
