Softball Recap: North Marion Huskies vs. Cascade Cougars
North Marion had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-11 to make it seven. They came up short against the Cascade Cougars, falling 11-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent loss being a 21-0 defeat two weeks ago.
As for Cascade, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-1. Considering they have won 17 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Cascade's part, Pearl Pruett and Amyah Miranda did most of the damage at the plate: Pruett went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs, while Miranda went 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Pruett a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Scanlan, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Marion will take on Newport at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cascade, they will venture away from home to square off against Sweet Home at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
