Preview: Genesee Wolves vs. International Academy Phoenix
Genesee is 2-8 against International Academy since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Genesee Wolves will be playing at home against the International Academy Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Genesee has not done well against Atherton recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Genesee came out on top in a nail-biter against Atherton and snuck past 52-50. The victory was just what Genesee needed coming off of a 69-26 defeat in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Genesee to victory, but perhaps none more so than Connor Rouse, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Croak, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Meanwhile, International Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Atherton 80-33 on the road. International Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.
Genesee's win bumped their record up to 3-11. As for International Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Everything came up roses for Genesee against International Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 84-55 victory. Does Genesee have another victory up their sleeve, or will International Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
