Softball Recap: West Comes Up Short

West had lost 13 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-14 to make it 14. They lost 23-8 to the East Bakersfield Blades. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blades this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-12 back in February.

As for East Bakersfield, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-17. That looming 23-8 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For East Bakersfield's part, Samantha Fuentes was a standout: she went 6-for-5 with five runs, five RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Fuentes has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jaqueline Salas, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: East Bakersfield beat West by a score of 12-2 on Thursday.
