Baseball Recap: Tome Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Tome waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past Delaware Valley Classical 13-5. This was a revenge game for Tome: when they faced off against Delaware Valley Classical back in March, they had to take a 7-2 defeat.

The team relied heavily on Jack Widdoes, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Tome's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Blaine Pendergraft, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs.

Tome always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Tome back to even at 3-3. As for Delaware Valley Classical, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Tome will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against North East at 6:00 p.m. on the 30th. As for Delaware Valley Classical, they will face off against Rockbridge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scots have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
