Basketball Recap: Walnut Takes a Loss

Walnut lost to Baldwyn back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wildcats took a blow against the Bearcats, falling 64-28. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-14.

Walnut's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Joshua Luster, who posted four points along with five boards and three steals, and Garrett Johnson, who put up eight points. Luster is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Walnut and nudges their season record down to 3-17. As for Baldwyn, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Walnut will face off against rival Hamilton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Baldwyn is set to take on their familiar foe Hatley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
