Baseball Recap: Perham Has No Trouble Against Minnehaha Academy

Perham not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024. They blew past the Minnehaha Academy Red Hawks 12-1.

Joey Ecker looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Perham got a massive performance out of Ty Rooney, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave Rooney a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Griffin, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Perham's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Minnehaha Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Perham and Minnehaha Academy will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Yellowjackets are set to square off against their familiar foe Hawley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Minnehaha Academy will take on rival St. Paul Academy-Summit at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
