Preview: Waterford Wildcats vs. Mariposa County Grizzlies

Waterford is 0-10 against Mariposa County since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Waterford Wildcats will look to defend their home court against the Mariposa County Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Waterford came up short against Denair and fell 58-48. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Waterford in their matchups with Denair: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Waterford had strong showings from Izaiah Sanchez, who scored 16 points, and Christian Gayle, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Sanchez scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Santiago Hernandez, who scored eight points.

Mariposa County suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 78-56 loss at the hands of Orestimba. It was the first time this season that Mariposa County let down their fans at home.

Waterford's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 9-12. As for Mariposa County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-10.
