Soccer Game Preview: San Marcos vs. East Central

The San Marcos Rattlers will venture away from home to challenge the East Central Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Marcos will be strutting in after a victory while East Central will be coming in after a loss.

San Marcos took a three-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Clemens, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. San Marcos had just enough and edged out Clemens 3-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Rattlers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Annalise Martinez and Kareena Rodriguez scored all three of San Marcos' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Meanwhile, East Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. They lost 10-0 to Steele. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 639th in Texas, while the Knights are ranked 176th in Texas).

San Marcos' victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for East Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-16.

San Marcos took their win against East Central in their previous matchup on February 4th by a conclusive 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Marcos since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
