Baseball Recap: Nouvel Catholic Central Takes a Loss

Nouvel Catholic Central had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 1-11 to make it nine. They lost 14-2 to the Valley Lutheran Chargers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Monday.

As for Valley Lutheran, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2. Considering they have won four games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Valley Lutheran's part, Varsity Ben Diener made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ben Diener was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs.

In other batting news, Varsity Axel Schuette and Varsity Ryan Pittman did most of the damage at the plate: Axel Schuette went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Ryan Pittman went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those RBI were Axel Schuette's first of the season. Varsity Isaac Rupprecht was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Nouvel Catholic Central will take on Breckenridge at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Valley Lutheran, they will square off against Ithaca at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
