Baseball Game Preview: Strasburg-Franklin Tigers vs. Conotton Valley Rockets

Strasburg-Franklin and Conotton Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Tigers will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Rockets at 5:00 p.m. Strasburg-Franklin will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Strasburg-Franklin is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They beat River by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-4.

Caden Dugan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Strasburg-Franklin's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-1 (and 7-13 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Conotton Valley earned a 6-1 victory over Shadyside on Wednesday.

Zack Putnam made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Putnam was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooks Bower, who went 3-for-4 with two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

Conotton Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Strasburg-Franklin, they now have a winning record of 15-14.
