Softball Recap: Mounds View Mustangs vs. Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders

Mounds View had lost 11 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-7 to make it 12. They fell 6-3 to the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their loss to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Cretin-Derham Hall, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

For Cretin-Derham Hall's part, Brooke Nesdahl made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Nesdahl has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Mulcahy, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
