Softball Recap: Kearsarge Comes Up Short

If Kearsarge was riding high fresh off their 16-4 takedown of Mascoma on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars came up short against the Stevens Cardinals on Wednesday, falling 10-3. The Cougars have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Kearsarge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Shaughnessy 2028, who went 1-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs. Shaughnessy 2028 is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Kearsarge's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Stevens, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11.

Looking ahead, Kearsarge will welcome Somersworth at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars are facing the Toppers at the right time seeing as the Toppers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Stevens, they will head out on the road to challenge Fall Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
