Basketball Recap: Eagle Valley Comes Up Short

On Thursday, the Eagle Valley Devils lost to the Evergreen Cougars at home by a 47-28 margin. The Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Eagle Valley still got an impressive performance from Ella Webster, who posted eight points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Webster a new career-high in rebounds. Addison Mandeville also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Eagle Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evergreen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addie McEvers, who went 6 of 12 en route to 14 points along with six boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Elle Buenning, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 12 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Eagle Valley now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Evergreen, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 6-7.

Eagle Valley has already played their next contest (against Dakota Ridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Evergreen Cougars duke it out with the D'Evelyn Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. D'Evelyn will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Evergreen surely won't give up without a fight.
