Softball Recap: St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans vs. Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs

Wednesday just wasn't the day for St. Joseph-Ogden's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs on Wednesday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Joseph-Ogden and nudges their season record down to 19-9. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Mahomet-Seymour, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-13 record this season.

St. Joseph-Ogden will challenge Tolono Unity at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 3.7, the Rockets 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Mahomet-Seymour, they will face off against Bloomington Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
