Parker Chavez's Big Game Leads Valentine over Gordon-Rushville

Valentine picked up their sixth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Parker Chavez. Chavez was unstoppable, picking up 84 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 65 yards.

Valentine pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Chavez and Valentine will take on Kearney Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Big Game from Homan As Kearney Catholic Won 21-6

Winning always takes teamwork, but on Friday Pete Homan stepped things up a notch to give Kearney Catholic the 'W'. Homan was dynamite, rushing for 129 yards on only nine carries. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing two fumbles and making five total tackles.

Homan must have Hershey's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Homan saw the Panthers), he rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.

Trace Buechle and Co. Win Sixth in a Row

Trace Buechle's big game helped extend Valentine's winning streak to six on Friday. Nobody could stop Buechle as he threw for 165 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 49 yards. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played.

This season, Buechle has thrown 17 touchdowns while averaging 134.6 passing yards per game.

Underclassman Michael Plasencio Comes Up Big Against Amherst

While it always takes a team to win, one person punching above their weight class on Friday was Michael Plasencio. He turned in nothing short of a gem, rushing for 49 yards and two touchdowns. Mitchell is undefeated when Plasencio posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-4 otherwise.

The win got Mitchell back to even at 4-4. A feisty cat fight will be fought when Tigers challenges Hershey at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
