Softball Recap: Carbon Hill Bulldogs vs. Corner Yellow Jackets
Carbon Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Corner Yellow Jackets. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellow Jackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Taygen Dozier was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Ady Pike also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Carbon Hill's record is now 9-12. As for Corner, their record now sits at 8-14-1.
Coming up, Carbon Hill will take on Sumiton Christian in a tournament on Friday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Corner, they will be taking part in a tournament against Oak Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Yellow Jackets are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
