Recap: Weld Central Rebels vs. Berthoud Spartans

The Weld Central Rebels pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 69-60 to Berthoud. Weld Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Weld Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Branch, who scored 27 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Branch has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Cornelius, who scored 19 points.

It was another big night for Isaac Erickson, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks for Berthoud. Reece Stratmeyer was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weld Central will take on Brush at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Brush will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 307th, while Weld Central is ranked 147th). As for Berthoud, they will be playing in front of their home fans against The Classical Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully The Classical Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
