Baseball Game Preview: Broomfield Eagles vs. Heritage Eagles

Broomfield will square off against Heritage at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Broomfield will be strutting in after a win while Heritage will be coming in after a defeat.

If Broomfield beats Heritage with eight runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Broomfield blew past Douglas County 8-1 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won three in a row.

Ethan Zufall tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Caden Williamson was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Brendan Fritch was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Broomfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Douglas County only managed five hits.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Heritage's offense. They lost 13-0 to Grandview on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Broomfield pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Heritage, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Broomfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Heritage in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, sneaking past 6-4. Will Broomfield repeat their success, or does Heritage have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
