Basketball Game Preview: Bellevue West Thunderbirds vs. Westview Wolverines

The Bellevue West Thunderbirds will take on the Westview Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Bellevue West is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Saturday with ease, bagging a 76-46 victory over Lincoln Southeast. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunderbirds.

Bellevue West's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaycee Woodard, who went 6 of 7 en route to 19 points. Those 19 points gave Woodard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Yirah Sears, who went 6 for 15 on her way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Westview had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.9 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They claimed a resounding 64-22 victory over the Bison. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 23 points or more this season.

Westview pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Bellevue West, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Bellevue West skirted past Westview 32-29 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Will Bellevue West repeat their success, or does Westview have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
