Softball Recap: Elmira Express vs. Maine-Endwell Spartans
Elmira was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Maine-Endwell Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Elmira of the 5-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2018.
Elmira saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Cornacchio, who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Elmira's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9-1. As for Maine-Endwell, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elmira will take on Horseheads at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maine-Endwell, they will head out on the road to face off against Johnson City at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
