Basketball Recap: East Henderson Takes a Loss

If East Henderson was riding high fresh off their 62-25 takedown of North Henderson last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The East Henderson Eagles were dealt a 68-28 defeat at the hands of the Pisgah Bears on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while the Bears are ranked 31st).

Despite the loss, East Henderson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mamie Hill posted 14 points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, East Henderson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games.

It was another big night for Rylee Campbell, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals for Pisgah. Another player making a difference was Savannah Ivester, who earned eight points and three steals.

East Henderson's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Pisgah, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 20-2.

East Henderson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 67-36 loss against Smoky Mountain on the 11th. As for Pisgah, they have also already played their next contest, a 75-23 win against North Henderson on the 11th.
