Soccer Game Preview: Cate vs. El Segundo

The Cate Rams will square off against the El Segundo Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cate will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Cate is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Pasadena. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by just one goal.

George Marin was the driving force of Cate's attack as he scored both of Cate's goals, bringing his season total up to 34 goals.

Meanwhile, El Segundo faced Redondo Union in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. El Segundo had just enough and edged Redondo Union out 2-1. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by just one goal.

Cate's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 50 goals over those nine games. As for El Segundo, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
