Softball Recap: Glendale Comes Up Short

Glendale extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-13. They came up short against the Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels, falling 15-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Black Knights/Damsels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-9 back in April.

Jayden Fry was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Tessa Hamilton was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases.

As for Moshannon Valley, they moved to 7-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

On Moshannon Valley's side, Annabeth Anderson made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Anderson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Vanessa Miller was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2025. Abigail Beirlair also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Glendale has already played their next contest, a 17-3 loss against Homer-Center on the 11th. As for Moshannon Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 7-1 defeat against West Branch on the 7th.
