Baseball Game Preview: Lincolnview Lancers vs. Fairview Apaches

The Lincolnview Lancers will head out to face off against the Fairview Apaches at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Lincolnview is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Patrick Henry 7-1.

Meanwhile, Fairview entered their tilt with Wayne Trace on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Raiders. The result was nothing new for the Apaches, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Elijah Arend and Anthony Singer were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Arend didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Singer tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Arend has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Arend went 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Singer went 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Singer has posted since May 1st.

In other batting news, Zane Timbrook was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Mack, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Fairview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Lincolnview's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fairview, their record now sits at 18-3.
