Baseball Recap: Lake Weir Drops Highest Score of Season Against Wildwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Weir). They put the hurt on the Wildwood Wildcats with a sharp 18-1 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

D'Angelo Erazo was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Lake Weir is undefeated when Erazo posts two or more runs, but 3-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Kiger, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Lake Weir always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Lake Weir's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Wildwood, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Coming up, Lake Weir will be taking part in a tournament against Forest at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Lake Weir's pitchers better be ready for this one: Forest has averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
