Volleyball Game Preview: Lakeland Dreadnaughts vs. Lake Wales Highlanders

The Lakeland Dreadnaughts will challenge the Lake Wales Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lakeland will be strutting in after a victory while Lake Wales will be coming in after a defeat.

On Wednesday, Lakeland earned a 3-1 win over Lake Region. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dreadnaughts.

Lakeland walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-8, 24-26, 25-21.

Lakeland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Hernandez, who had 14 digs. Those 14 digs gave Hernandez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Sweeney, who had 12 digs.

Meanwhile, Lake Wales didn't have quite enough to beat Discovery on Wednesday and fell 3-2. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lake Wales took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-20, 15-10.

Lake Wales' loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Lakeland, they pushed their record up to 9-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Lakeland took their win against Lake Wales in their previous meeting on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Dreadnaughts repeat their success, or do the Highlanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
