Basketball Game Preview: Asheboro Blue Comets vs. Central Davidson Spartans

The Asheboro Blue Comets will venture away from home to square off against the Central Davidson Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Asheboro is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Asheboro is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Oak Grove on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Asheboro was dealt a 61-17 loss at the hands of Oak Grove. The Blue Comets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-13.

Meanwhile, Central Davidson ended up a good deal behind Ledford on Tuesday and lost 54-40. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Panthers are ranked 128th).

Asheboro's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Central Davidson, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Asheboro didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Central Davidson when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 38-34 win. Will Asheboro repeat their success, or does Central Davidson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
