Softball Recap: Pasadena Eagles vs. South Houston Trojans

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dobie, Pasadena was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the South Houston Trojans 14-5. The high-scoring effort was just what Pasadena needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Victors Calderon made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only one hit. Calderon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. Calderon was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring five runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Pasadena got a massive performance out of Neveah Hallmark, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Gabriela Rios, who scored four runs while going 3-for-4.

On South Houston's side, Arianna Aguirre made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Robles, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

Pasadena's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for South Houston, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pasadena will square off against Dobie at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Houston, they will head out on the road to challenge Pasadena Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
