Volleyball Recap: Goose Creek Gators vs. Berkeley Stags
Goose Creek lost against Berkeley back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Gators fell 3-1 to the Stags. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 16-25, 25-14, 25-18.
Berkeley was led to victory by Kinsley Valicek and Ava Baker. Valicek had 15 digs and four aces, while Baker had 18 kills and ten digs. Baker has been hot, having posted seven or more kills the last six times she's played. Sarah Brunson also deserves some recognition as she had her first digs of the season.
Goose Creek's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Berkeley, their victory ended an eight-match drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-13.
Goose Creek and Berkeley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. The Gators (ranked 148th) will meet Lucy Beckham (ranked 11th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Berkeley will square off against Wando at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (143 vs. 8).
