The Vidalia Vikings will square off against the Grace Christian Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Vidalia: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Grace Christian has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
Last Thursday, Vidalia came up short against Harrisonburg and fell 15-10.
Kinsley LeBlanc was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and 13 unearned) runs off nine hits. LeBlanc was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Piper Weatherly was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ali Welch, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Grace Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Logansport on Monday, taking the game 9-6.
Like Vidalia, Grace Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Rylee Guillot. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. Guillot has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wynnlee Vincent, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in home runs (two). Bella Acree was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Grace Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Vidalia, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.
Vidalia suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Grace Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Vikings have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
