Softball Recap: De Kalb Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

De Kalb put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They didn't even let the Redwater Dragons on the board, marking the Bears' second-straight 10-0 shutout. Considering the Bears have won 17 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaydee Brown made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, TT Ingram was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Hayden Mullins was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

De Kalb was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Redwater only posted a batting average of .000.

De Kalb's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Redwater, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-14-1.

Coincidentally, De Kalb and Redwater will both be playing Queen City the next time they take the field. The Dragons will host the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Bears will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
