Smithfield-Selma hadn't done well against South Johnston recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Spartans walked away with a 60-51 win over the Trojans. The Spartans pushed the score to 44-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trojans cut but never quite recovered from.

Smithfield-Selma's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shi'Quavis Benton led the charge by as he made all 5 shots he took for 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnavon Cox, who posted ten points and six boards.
