University Lab won the last time they faced Port Allen and things went their way on Thursday too. Everything went the University Lab Cubs' way against the Port Allen Pelicans as the University Lab Cubs made off with a 14-8 win. Considering the Cubs have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Gabby Fontenot made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, London Harvey was a standout: she scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Kate Ruebsamen, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
University Lab was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in four consecutive matches.
