Basketball Recap: Pawnee City Comes Up Short

After flying high against Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer last Tuesday, Pawnee City came back down to earth. The Pawnee City Indians received a blow on Thursday as they fell 73-59 to the Exeter-Milligan/Friend Bobcats. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the loss, Pawnee City still got an impressive performance from Anthony Kling, who dropped a double-double with 33 points and ten rebounds. The match was Kling's eighth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Atreyu Kling, who posted eight points along with five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Pawnee City was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Exeter-Milligan/Friend only racked up five assists.

Exeter-Milligan/Friend's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikey Bartu, who had ten points and four steals. Mason Vossler was another key player, putting up eight points.

Pawnee City's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Exeter-Milligan/Friend, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.

Pawnee City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-53 victory against Southern on the 8th. As for Exeter-Milligan/Friend, they have also already played their next game, a 48-34 loss against Johnson-Brock on the 8th.
