Baseball Recap: Millis Comes Up Short

Millis extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-6 in the process. They lost 15-2 to the Holliston Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mohawks of the 15-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Millis saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Leach, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Holliston, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

On Holliston's side, Ben Maiorano and Sam Schoenberg did most of the damage at the plate: Maiorano fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4, while Schoenberg fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. Maiorano also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brent Kiley, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.

Millis will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hopkinton at 6:30 p.m. on the 28th. The Mohawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hillers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Holliston, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-4 defeat against Bridgewater-Raynham on the 19th.
