Softball Recap: Monticello Buckaroo vs. Grand County Red Devils        
        
		
            
 Sadly, Monticello is still looking for their first win of the season after 11  matchups. Their  tough  17-0 loss to the Grand County Red Devils  on Thursday might stick with them for a while. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Monticello of the  17-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  on April 4th.
 For Grand County's part,  hope Shumway made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run and  only one  hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Shumway has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. Shumway was also big at the plate,  scoring three  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Rhi Hren and  Bailey Altoff did most of the damage at the plate:  Hren  scored three  runs and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances, while  Altoff  went 3-for-4 with three  runs, four  RBI,  and a  double.  Brianna Thayne was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-3.
 Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Grand County, their victory  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 8-6.
 Monticello will be playing at home against San Juan at 3:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Grand County, they will head out on the road to  square off against  North Sevier at 1:30  p.m.  on Friday. North Sevier will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more  runs each  contest than the last.
