Basketball Recap: Seneca Takes a Loss

Seneca lost against Greer back in February of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Seneca Bobcats lost 71-50 to the Greer Yellow Jackets. The Bobcats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Seneca saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jeremiah Hunter posted 11 points and three steals. Hunter is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Stu Finley was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Seneca smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Seneca's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-5. As for Greer, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Seneca wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 76-64 defeat against Blue Ridge on the 9th. As for Greer, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 80-38 victory against Travelers Rest on the 9th.
