Softball Recap: Lowry Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Lowry, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Spring Creek Spartans on Friday by a score of 7-6 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for the Buckaroos in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won five in a row.

Makinley Hislop spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lowry saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adalyn Entwistle, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another was Natalya Guizar, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Entwistle wasn't the only one making solid contact: Lowry kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Lowry's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Spring Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Lowry will have a chance to go back-to-back against Spring Creek: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
